How we protect your identity

A clear, step-by-step guide to how we protect your identity on Campus Ghost — with screenshots you can follow along.

How we protect your identity

Step-by-step guide

  1. 1

    Identity Verification

Verification is used only for authentication—not for displaying your identity.

  2. 2

    Unique Ghost ID

A secure algorithm generates a random Ghost ID such as Ghost002, Ghost208, or Ghost099. This becomes your public identity across Campus Ghost.

  3. 3

    Separate Identity Vault

Your real identity and your Ghost ID are stored in separate secure systems. Public posts reference only your Ghost ID, never your personal details.

  4. 4

    Anonymous Publishing

Every post, comment, and reply is published using your Ghost ID. Your name, email, profile photo, and personal information are never shown.

  5. 5

    Community Validation

Instead of likes, students verify information using Valid and Invalid votes. The platform measures community confidence in the content—not the person who shared it.

  6. 6

    Privacy by Design

Our anonymity architecture is designed so your identity remains protected while your experiences help build a transparent and trustworthy campus community.

Tips from the Campus Ghost team

  • Keep your app updated — new privacy protections ship every few weeks.
  • Your Ghost Identity is protected end-to-end. Even Campus Ghost cannot link a post back to your real name.
  • If a screen looks different, tap Help inside the app for live, contextual guidance.
