1. Introduction
Campus Ghost is an anonymous, college-focused social platform and review community. It lets verified students participate through a pseudonymous Ghost ID and Ghost Persona, browse and follow colleges, publish posts, reviews, confessions, stories, receive notifications, and engage with peers.
This Privacy Policy explains how Campus Ghost collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects personal data when you use our website, mobile applications, support channels, and related features.
2. Who is Responsible for Your Data
The Data Fiduciary responsible for personal data processed under this policy is:
3. Scope and Important Definitions
- Personal Data: Data about an individual who is identifiable directly or indirectly by or in relation to that data.
- Ghost ID: The pseudonymous handle assigned or selected by a user. It does not display your legal name, real email, or phone number.
- Ghost Persona: The public profile state (avatar, display name, bio, college affiliations, posts) linked to a Ghost ID.
- User Content: All material submitted by you including text, photos, reviews, confessions, comments, and stories.
4. The Privacy Model: Anonymous in Public, Accountable in Operations
By default, other students and site visitors only see your Ghost ID and public persona. They cannot view your account email address, phone number, login records, or private support tickets.
However, to operate a secure, spam-free platform compliant with applicable laws, Campus Ghost retains limited technical data (such as encrypted credentials, device identifiers, and moderation logs) accessible strictly to authorized team members for safety and operation.
5. Personal Data We Collect
5.1 Data Provided Directly

- Profile details: Ghost ID handle, avatar selection, bio, college tag.
- User Content: Posts, reviews, ratings, confessions, comments, attachments, stories.
- Communications: Support messages, bug reports, feature requests, appeal forms.
5.2 Data Collected Automatically
- Device and log metrics: IP address, browser type, OS, app version, language, crash logs.
- Usage data: Feature interactions, page views, college feed searches, notification delivery status.

6. How We Use Personal Data
We process personal data solely for specified, lawful purposes:

7. Public Content, College Tags, Reviews & Stories
Submitting posts to public college feeds makes that content visible to all students on the platform. College tags indicate institution topics and do not constitute official endorsement by the university.
Stories expire from active feed display after their designated duration, but system backup logs and moderation archives retain records for safety verification.
8. Notifications & Communications
We use in-app and push notification engines (powered by WebSockets) to alert you about post upvotes, replies, and college news. You can manage notification settings directly in your account preferences.
9. Moderation, Reports, and Admin Audit Logs
To maintain transparency and prevent administrative bias, Campus Ghost utilizes Admin Audit Logs. Every moderation action (post removal, warning, ban) is automatically recorded with admin IDs, timestamps, policy codes, and rationale. Audit logs are non-public and access-controlled.
11. Advertising, Analytics & De-identified Data
Campus Ghost operates without targeted advertising. We do not track users across external web platforms. Aggregated or de-identified analytics may be evaluated internally to optimize server performance and UX.
